Reverse: Central medallion with blue enamel and legend POR ISABEL LA CATÓLICA (“For Isabella the Catholic”).
Suspension: Green-enamel laurel wreath.
Condition:
Very good condition overall with minor wear to gilding and light patina. Enamel on both sides remains vibrant and intact. Ribbon shows slight age toning but retains its original color and clasp. Please refer to photos for detailed condition.
Historical and Collectible Significance:
Instituted on 14 March 1815 by King Ferdinand VII, the Order of Isabella the Catholic was created to reward services benefiting Spain and promoting relations with other nations.
The Knight Class (Caballero) is one of the most recognized grades, worn suspended from the chest ribbon.
This decoration remains one of the highest civil honors of the Kingdom of Spain and is still awarded today for diplomatic, cultural, and humanitarian contributions.
