Description:

A scarce Italian-made special badge of the 64th Pomeranian Infantry Battalion, produced by the firm Ditta Bargnesi di Zanetti in Bologna.
The obverse features a red crowned eagle grasping a sabre in its claw, set against a white enamel shield.
This striking design reflects the emblematic style of Polish formations serving under the 2nd Corps (2 Korpus Polski) in Italy.

The reverse is plain, stamped with the maker’s marks:
“DITTA BARGNESI DI ZANETTI – BOLOGNA.”
Original screw post with matching nut and washer, typical of wartime Italian production.

Condition:

Very good, with intact enamel and only minimal surface wear.
Reverse with original patina and crisp maker’s inscription.
Complete with original screw and nut – untouched example.

Historical Note:

The 64th Pomeranian Infantry Battalion belonged to the 2nd Corps of the Polish Armed Forces, operating under General Władysław Anders in Italy.
Many such badges were produced locally by Italian jewelers, including Bargnesi di Zanetti of Bologna, who supplied numerous Polish units with distinctive enamel insignia.
Badges from this manufacturer are today prized for their craftsmanship and authenticity.
